The 2025 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) will focus on the theme "Gender Equality in Digital Transformation," emphasizing the importance of inclusive digital access and equal opportunities for all. In support of this mission, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) invites public and private sector partners to collaborate through its Partner2Connect Digital Coalition.

WTISD has been observed annually on May 17th since 1969, commemorating the founding of the ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865.

Since 2012, Vanuatu has actively participated in this global initiative through the organization of National ICT Days in key locations including Port Vila, Luganville (Santo), and the SANMA Province. The most recent celebration was held in May 2024 at the Convention Centre in Port Vila.

In 2025, Vanuatu will introduce an expanded and reimagined celebration: Digital Week Vanuatu 2025, held under the national theme "Innovate Today, Sustain Tomorrow." This four-day event will integrate the E-Commerce Symposium, Consumer Rights Day, and National ICT Days into one dynamic program. It will take place from May 13th to 16th, 2025, at Unity Park in Luganville, Santo.

This year’s Digital Week highlights innovation as the foundation for sustainable digital development, while continuing to align with the global WTISD focus on gender equality in digital transformation.
